[Markham] La Piazzetta Ristorante Bar & Grill at Monte Carlo Inns – Woodbine Ave & 16th Ave

Address: 8900 Woodbine Ave, Markham, ON L3R 5K6
Phone:(905) 513-8100
Rating: 4.5 star / 5 star

We headed to  La Piazzetta Ristorante Bar & Grill at Monte Carlo Inn for a celebration dinner. It was my Mother-in-law’s birthday and she chose to go here. I’ve been here once and this was my second time stepping inside this restaurant. It’s a Western restaurant but operated by Chinese people. It was quite a quiet place to be on a weekday – only a couple tables were occupied. What I love about their menu is – they have set course dinners at a fix price.

We all ordered a four course meal – it came with either salad or soup, main course, dessert, and a drink. They have different price range depending on what your main course is. The picture above is a lobster bisque soup that my husband ordered.

There was this oyster deal for $9.99 for half a dozen of fresh oysters.

Baked Escargots

Grilled Chicken on Mashed Potato

Steak & Shrimp dinner

Forgot what this dessert was called.

Overall – a really satisfying dinner. We were all very full and happy. What better to have in a birthday celebration right? Of course – delicious food does the job! Next time I would like to try their steaks! Have you been here before? What’s your experience? This location is the Woodbine & 16th Avenue location – inside Monte Carlo Inn. The service was excellent – staff were attentive! A place we must come back to :) !

[Dishcrawl Scarborough] Big Moe’s at Lawrence Location Review

This was my first time at Big Moe’s – I know of a location near where I live – Steeles & Kennedy but never really got to step into this shop to check out what they offer till the night of Dishcrawl. I had no idea what we were up to or what we were having till they serve us a box of funnel cake!

That’s right – I had my first piece of funnel cake that night. You must be rolling your eyes aren’t you? I’ve lived here all my life but never had a funnel cake before. Seems kind of funny to me and now I really know what I’ve been missing out! It was like heaven to me after my first bite. After that first bite – I had to have the entire box of funnel cake. The funnel cake was serve warm and fresh. I knew I had to go back to Big Moe’s! Also – I’ve read quite a bit of reviews on their burgers and fries too – next time it is a must for me!

I’ve tried to google up this location and telephone number but don’t seem to find any!? Do anyone know if this location is brand new in Scarborough? It’s between Warden and Lawrence Avenue East. Feel free to comment below!

[Dishcrawl Scarborough] The Loaded Dog Sports Bar & Pub – Restaurant Review

This was my first time at The Loaded Dog Sports Bar & Pub. Love how they decorated the outside – definitely a nice place to chill outside during the summer. But now it’s just way too cold to be anywhere. It’s a big sports bar! Ready for a food review?

This is what we had that night: 72 Homerun” Slider, Famous Wings 3 Ways, and Fresh Cut Fries.

The fries was delicious and fresh – definitely will be going back for more of those fries! Next time I will probably want to try a poutine with those fries. The chicken wings to me tasted all the same – so nothing all that special. For the 72 homerun slider – nothing spectacular to me either. It just tastes like a Big Mac from McDonald. I would prefer to try something I’ve never tried before. Overall – love the fries! Wings and slider – I didn’t care much about.

[Dufferin Mall] Swiss Chalet ;; Restaurant Review & Kids Meals

Had a yummilicious lunch with my best friend and her family at Swiss Chalet. This time at the Dufferin Mall location. Swiss Chalet never disappoints me with their food. Everything was yummy and even the kids were satisfied with their meal. When I looked at the kids menu for the first time – I didn’t know they served that many choices. Now I can’t wait till my son knows how to eat – so we will be dining at Swiss Chalet more often.

This is my usual – was feeling for the quarter chicken and baked potato. I wanted the fries also but it was hard to decide so I stick with the healthier choice. Well – I’m not sure if it’s healthy with the sour cream or not but at least I felt a little healthy. lol.

This is one of the kids meal ordered that afternoon. Pretty good – I wanted to try one piece of the chicken strips but resisted. Have you been to Swiss Chalet? Any comments about their restaurant chain? Love it or hate it?

[North York] Moxie at Yorkdale Mall ;; Food & Restaurant Reviews

Had a delicious dinner with my girlfriend at Moxie Yorkdale location. It was on a Sunday and we didn’t have to wait for long. We quickly ordered our meals too. It was such a busy Sunday. I’ve been here many times and the servers never fails to disappoint me here.

Since I had steak here many times – I decided to try their pasta. I think it was the Alfredo Chicken Penne – don’t quite remember. It was really delicious and tasty. Love the combination of the green onions as well. The green onions was what gave a better taste for the pasta. Felt like a Chinese dish – because I never really see green onions in Western food before.

I said no thank you to desserts that night but my girlfriend had the White Chocolate cake. She said it was delicious. I refused to have any because I cannot imagine how much calories is in this piece of cake. Overall – we enjoyed our dinner. The kids were well behaved and we got to catch up with each other. I need more of these girl times!

Dishcrawl Scarborough – Review & First Experience

How should I start this post off as? Let me start it off with one word – “AMAZING”! It was my very first time experiencing a Dishcrawl Event. Before coming to this event – I had no idea how it would go. Of course – I was very curious of what restaurants we’ll be going to that night but again – I had a lot of questions in my mind. Would there be enough food to fill up my tummy? Would the food be awesome? How many people would be attending this event?

Dishcrawl Ambassador, Jennifer! You gotta meet her – she has a very charming personality!

My first Dishcrawl event was FABULOUS. My husband and I had a blast that night – especially at the end of the night – the dessert was what did it! Till this date – I’m still thinking about that funnel cake we had that night! Jennifer did an awesome job selecting the four restaurants! I will definitely be going to more Dishcrawl events in the future – you really can’t miss it! That means – I’ll need to lose off the extra pounds in order to join these Dishcrawl events. There was more than enough food for my stomach – the choices of restaurants were amazing! I love how the owner introduced themselves and gave a little history about their restaurants – I’ve learned quite a lot that night!

Let me talk a little more about the Scarborough Dishcrawl event that happened on March 27th 2013 (Wednesday). We met up at Pho Metro (a Vietnamese restaurant) – I didn’t know that was our first destination at all but when we got there – we figured it was. We got our names checked off and by 7:15pm – Jennifer gave us an introduction of the event. Then all we did was eat for the rest of the night! We stayed in each restaurant about 40 minutes.

Our number 1 stop was at Pho Metro.

Overall, I love the variety of restaurants Jennifer chose. It was a memorable experience for all of us who attended. I will definitely be joining future Dishcrawl events! Don’t forget to check out Dishcrawl website to find out where the next Dishcrawl is!

[Markham] Milestones at Highway7 & Warden Avenue ;; Restaurant & Food Review

Celebrated our son’s first birthday at Milestones. I thought it be meaningful to celebrate his first milestone at Milestones. Get it? Hahaha – I like meaningful things. I didn’t know they had a Prix Fixe menu when we got there – even more better. It was a 3 course meal at $25.00 each. These are not the appetizer that came with the meal. What happened was – they didn’t have the soup starter we wanted and we waited about half an hour for it. So they decided to give us complimentary appetizers. We get to pick 5 appetizers on their regular menu,

Bruschetta

Sweet Potato Fries

Garlic Bread

Main Course: Chicken – not quite sure the full name of this meal

Main Course: Grilled Salmon

Main Course: Steak with baked potato

I do not recommend their steaks here – it sucks and it’s rough! it’s my second time trying their steaks and there is no next time! I order medium and it shouldn’t even be a problem chewing it. But nope – my jaw was tired after the second piece of steak. I had to take it home and make noodles with it instead. How disappointing right?

Dessert: Cookie & Cream

Dessert: Peacan Belgium Dark Chocolate Cake

We even had a complimentary dessert for munchkin’s first birthday. It was nice of the restaurant. We had a waitress that was fairly new and she made a lot of mistakes for our orders and such. Good thing I was in a good mood – otherwise I would of been really mad and requested to change servers. I didn’t want it to ruin our mood too especially dining with the in-laws. Hopefully she’ll learn from all the mistakes that night. Overall – had a delicious dinner. Dinner lasted about 2.5 hours long.

[Markham] Swiss Chalet at Markville Mall ;; Take Out Dinner

What’s better to have than a take out dinner at home? Yep – when it’s freezing out – I try to avoid going out as much as I can. Times like this – we order Swiss Chalet take out and my husband picks it up. We have our usual – quarter leg chicken dinner and it comes with a side dish. The price is around $9.00-$11.00 for each.

This is my meal – I do have a couple of favorites at Swiss Chalet but I was craving quarter chicken this time. I love the Chicken Caesar Salad and the Chicken Wrap too. The Chicken wrap is very meaty and filling and I love it! What’s your favorite when you dine at Swiss Chalet? Care to share?
