[Markham] Royal Teahouse 君皇茶坊 – Dinner Review

Been here many times before and food here is average to me. All Chinese food is average to me – might be because I grew up having them all the time.

We ordered way too much food for four people. We had ‘the seafood’ – does anyone know what it is called? Sweet Sour Pork, Fresh Fish, Veg, Peking Duck, and the left over of Peking Duck with lettuce. Total of six dishes for four!

My favorite was the peking duck – it was fresh and a lot of meat. I don’t have them often – so I do kind of miss it. What’s your favorite at this restaurant? Any recommendations? Care to Share?

[Scarborough] Yogi Noodles — Inexpensive & Delicious Food

Yogi Noodle is one of my all-time-favorite. I love their food and not only is their food good – they are pretty inexpensive. This spaghetti bolognese cost $5.99 and it came with a drink too. It’s not only lunch – it’s all day long. Yogi Noodles has two locations. Scarborough location: Warden Avenue & Steeles Avenue. Richmond Hill location: Easter Beaver Creek & Highway 7.

This is what my husband ordered. His all time favorite at this restaurant – Baked Cream Sauce with Ham & Chicken Spaghetti. For $6.99 it came with a drink also.

This is what my brother-in-law ordered. Not sure about the price but it was a big bowl of noodles with lots of dumplings and veggie. Looks like a really yummy and healthy meal for sure. I highly recommend this restaurant. Not because it’s inexpensive but the food is very very tasty!

[Scarborough] Inada Japanese Restaurant ;; Lunch Specials & Food Pictures

Visited Inada Japanese Restaurant for the second time. Both times I ordered from their a la carte menu for lunch. I do want to try their all-you-can-eat dinner one day but I never get a chance too. Have you tried their all-you-can-eat dinners? Any suggestions? Worth it or not?

They have a huge menu for their a la carte menu but I ordered from their lunch special menu which I forgot to take a picture of.

Love how they decorated their restaurant – very modernize! Love the Japanese style dishes as well.

Had a complimentary drink – way too sweet for my liking after the first sip.

My meal came with a salad.

and a soup – this soup was full of MSG – not my favorite.

My friend’s side dish.

My friend’s meal.

My other friends meal.

This is my meal – I ordered the Salmon Teryaki with rice. It was a delicious meal and love that they came with a lot of vegetables. It was a very tasty meal overall. My meal cost $4.99 and it came with a salad, soup and a dessert too. What kind of deal is this right? I love their menu selection – worth the price!

Here’s the mango dessert – I took a spoonful and that’s it. It’s not that I don’t like it – it’s just that I’m on a strict diet and I don’t want to eat food that has a lot of sugar. I’m very healthy conscious.

[Scarborough] Kenny’s Noodle Afternoon Tea Specials

When we wake up late – we usually make it in time for afternoon tea at restaurants. This time we headed to Kenny’s Noodle for their afternoon tea special. They have some decent price meals starting from $4.99 and it comes with a drink too. I had the red bean with ice cream cold drink and hubby had the lemon tea.

This is what I had at $4.99. The beef brisket didn’t taste that good – a bit too rough for my liking and the soup broth was not right. I prefer the beef broth instead of the regular broth. Other than that – they gave me a huge bowl of noodles which I couldn’t finish. It was definitely worth the money.

My husband had the fried chicken with fries at $4.99 as well. Both our meals were pretty cheap. Next time when we have afternoon tea – I’m going to try their other choices. I love how they come with a decent size drink. Definitely an inexpensive lunch we had. Have you been to Kenny’s Noodle before? If yes – what’s your favorites?

[Toronto] Butter Avenue ;; Macarons Review

I’m sure everyone in town has heard of this pastry cafe called Butter Avenue. It has become very popular in town because of their maracons and cakes. Plus – I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about their teas too. I should really pay a visit to Butter Avenue but the last time I went – it was on a Monday which they closed. I was very disappointed – should of checked the opening hours before going.

Nonetheless – I had wonderful friends sharing their macarons – we each had one to take home with us. Don’t they look cute or what? It was actually my first time having a macaron.

What was my first experience? Well – to me these macarons was a little bit too sweet for my taste. Overall – it was very soft and I love the texture of it. I forgot what the taste of these three are but they were good. I cut it in halves and shared it with my in-laws. They said it was pretty good too. Next time I should have a few and do a proper review about these macarons. Macarons aren’t cheap – they are at $2.50 to $3.00 a piece.

[Scarborough] Kenny’s Noodle ;; Lunch Meals

Having lunch with the relatives at Kenny’s Noodle as usual. We have our usual lunch here once every two weeks. This was my hubby’s meal. He doesn’t usually order this but I guess he wasn’t too hungry to order his usual baked cream sauce with ham & chicken spaghetti. This meal came with a drink.

I wasn’t feeling hungry as well – so I ordered a congee. Congee is nice to have once in awhile to clear out your system. My favorite type of congee is chicken congee – especially the homemade ones. I prefer it homemade because you can add as much ingredients you want in it.  What’s your favorite congee selection?

Here’s another picture of my hubby & my munchkin. He sure does know how to look at the camera when I snap photos of him. He’s not camera shy at all eh?

[Home Cook] Simple Chinese Lunch Meals

My blog is full of food pictures at restaurants, you probably think I hardly or even NEVER eat at home. Truth be told – I eat 75% of my meals at home – I just never really took any pictures of it. I thought it wouldn’t be that appealing to anyone. So here it is – these are the lunches I usually make at home for myself. I try to have my lunches at home through Monday to Friday. For dinners – I’d like to stay home Sunday to Thursdays. I don’t dine out that much do I?

My favorite noodle is the rice noodle! I can have it every day but than rice noodle has a lot of carbohydrates which I’m trying to cut down on. So I eat rice noodles less now. I always have a variety in my lunches. It has to have meat and veg!

Here’s a pasta lunch meal. I hardly make pasta because again – the carbs is no good for me! So what do I end up eating than? Well – egg noodle is the best to eat. I eat it mostly because it’s healthy and less carbs. See how annoying it is losing weight? I don’t mind eating healthy now – I just have to make it in an habit.

[Scarborough] Cafe Mirage — Food & Restaurant Review

I’ve been to Cafe Mirage about 3-4 times but never really dinner here. Cafe Mirage is known for their desserts and drinks. Usually when I go here – it is to have a dessert and catch up with friends. Cakes cost about $6.00 to $10.00 a piece. Meals are around $14.00 to $25.00. Not too bad. Usually this place is busy during weekends and weekdays is quite quiet.

As you figure – I always order beef for my meals because I’m low on iron and beef has iron. This is the reason why. I ordered the Roast Beef sandwich for $14.00 if I remember correctly. It comes with a soup. I wanted fries with it but their whole menu doesn’t have fries. Which sucks right? I like my sandwiches with fries instead of a coup. I’m just so used to it. Their soup tasted like canned soup – I didn’t finish it.

Nom nom nom – one of the best roast beef sandwich I had. The beef was so juicy!! You have to have it with the sauce!

This is what my girlfriend ordered – forgot what it is but the salad was really good.

This is what my other girlfriend ordered – the Chickekn Chiptole?

Vegetarian Pizza. Tasted very greasy to me.

Dessert time

I remember this piece of cake was Mocha something… lol.

Overall – we sat at Cafe Mirage for 2 hours chit chatting. It was a weekday – so it was quite quiet when we went. I love how they have comfy couches – makes it very relaxing. We had a lot of food for three people eh? A bit crazy!
