[Scarborough] New Northern Dumpling House ;; Dumpling Review

I’m a dumpling girl and with a tray of good dumplings – I can have it every day! New Northern is now my favorite place to have dumplings. I can eat non-stop when I see these. My favorite is the leak and pork dumpling. What I love about them in this restaurant is they make it fresh and on the spot. It never disappoints and I love the freshness of every bite of it. It’s delicious and trust me – you all gotta try them out!

Level Up Restaurant at McCowan & Highway7

Don’t remember if I ever blogged about this restaurant before but if I did – here’s another review. We went to Level Up for a family dinner to celebrate Father’s day with my in-laws and boy was the line up long! We had to wait for a good half an hour. I should of made reservations beforehand – now I learn my lesson!

The service was quite slow that day and I just can’t stand un-trained employees because they are just way too slow and that drives me insane. Overall – the food was pretty good – nothing to complain about the food but I hope they fix their services soon!

PASSION4FOOD 0021

Since the day I know I’ve diabetes – I eat at home much more often than before. It’s hard to control what I eat at a restaurant – so its better to eat at home right? Well – I usually eat lunch at home but now I gotta have most of my dinners at home as well. I don’t mind eating at home really – but hubby is a different story. He enjoys eating out more than I do.

PASSION4FOOD 0022

I love all kinds of noodles – egg noodles, rice noodles, or instant noodles. It just depends on what I’m craving that day! I usually fried an egg or boil an egg and add Korean beef slices with it. I’m low on iron – so gotta have my irons!

Swiss Chalet Markville Mall Poor Services

018

I’ve been to this location a lot for Swiss Chalet – I never had a problem till this time. I had a party of 7-8 people with me and the server was just slow. I can understand because it was such a busy day. But when we were paying for our dinners. The cashier gave us change in front of us and REMINDED us that the tips is not enough? I got so mad about this because – first of all – it all depends on YOUR service. Secondly – I did not have to be reminded about the tips. I know what to give and what not to give. He was basically asking us for our tips? What the heck? Yes – tell me about it. Which servers does that? I mean – they do earn most of their income from TIPS but THEY have no right to ask for tips right? That was my worst experience of all. I couldn’t believe what I heard. My other friends got kind of angry at this too. Can you believe this?

019

I usually don’t complain about it – but this time was just ridiculous. I didn’t complain about the slow service at all but the way the server was asking/reminding us about TIPS? Are you serious here? If I was mean – I would of given NOTHING. Yes – absolutely nothing to him. Not only that – I would of just asked for the manger. But he was darn lucky that day because I was celebrating my birthday!

020

Would you  be mad and angry if you were in my situation?? I mean – I have no complaints on the food or anything – I just hope I don’t get this server back if I ever visit this location again in the future. Swiss Chalet really needs to train this server properly. So rude eh? I cannot believe it.

Overall – the food was pretty good!

Tips on Making Sushi @ Home

007

This was actually my first time making sushi at home – it was a lot of fun making it. It looks easy but there’s actually a lot of work into it! I’m glad my friend taught me a lot when she made it for me to try. It’s actually very easy but a lot of preparation to do! Overall – it’s very inexpensive to make sushi at home!

008

1. Make sure you prepare the rice 2 hours ahead – so the rice have enough time to cool.

2. If your having raw fish – do cut them up quickly and put it back to the fridge. Raw fish is easy to get contaminated

3. Cut up your ingredients when rice is cooling.

4. Lay all ingredients around you – so it’s easy to reach when your making sushi.

5. Make sure all your surroundings are clean and dry.

6. Be very careful when your cutting the sushi. The sushi knives is very sharp – you may accidentally cut yourself.

009

Not a lot of tips – but it should be good enough to share with you all. It was fun – but a lot of washing afterward! Making sushi at home allows you to be creative. It brings out your creative side – I would make sushi again when I have a large party because it involves a lot of work. Gotta make it worth it right?

Don’t they look delicious???

Simple dinners @ Home

276

My friends challenge me to make them a dinner at home because they know I don’t cook and I go out to eat a lot. Well – usually the mother in law cooks during the week days and we eat out during the weekends. There’s really no chance for me to cook. I don’t need to cook – doesn’t mean I can’t cook. I proved them wrong. *hehehe* I do enjoy putting dinners together and it’s fun cooking.

277

My first time grilling some asparagus. It’s simple – all you need to add is salt and some oil and leave it on the grill for 10 to 15 minutes. I don’t eat a lot of asparagus but I thought it would look nice as presentation – so that’s why I grabbed a batch. It was pretty good and fresh.

278

Lobster was pretty pricey that week but the guys suggested lobsters – so I bought three and just baked it in the over with cheese. These are pretty small lobsters eh? I want to get larger ones next time when it goes on sale. I’m planning to make lobster dinner for the hubby soon – he’s been craving for it. Maybe I’ll surprise him with it. *hehehe*

279

Dinners are not hard to make – just a lot of prep time and cleaning time. I do enjoy cooking :) Lobster with steak and some veggies. I also made pasta with cheese and baked potato on the side. One of my friend was a vegeterian – so I had to have a variety of food on the table to satisfy everyone.

Dinner was ready! Dinner took me an hour to prep and 15 minutes to eat and 20 minutes to clean up. See – eating at home just takes a lot of time but you get to save a lot too. I’m glad everyone enjoyed it.

Hollywood Cafe @ Marketvillage

079

This meal is only open till 7PM every day – after 7PM it’s now allowed to be ordered. I used to love coming to this restaurant – but ever since they changed staff. The service has gone down a lot. Service is very important to a restaurant and bad service is what turns me down. Although the prices are decent here – the service is the opposite. I hope they fix this very soon or else they’ll be loosing a lot of customers. What do you look for in a restaurant? Prices? Services? Cleanliness?

Tea Special @ Asian Station

167

I had lunch with my stepmother and stepsister at Asian Station the other day around 2:30PM. Mostly at Cafes around this time – there’s tea special. Tea special meals are very affordable and they come with a drink too. I ordered a ice coffee with my instant noodle meal. I know I know – I can easily make instant noodles at home but I was craving for it. Can’t help it.

169

I love the floral prints on this plate! I’m so into details eh?

168

My Stepmother ordered an egg sandwhich for $2.99 (from what I remember?) – correct me if I’m wrong about the price – all these meals include a hot drink too.

170

My Stepsister ordered the eel sandwich – it looked so delicious that I had to steal some! It was pretty good too – the eel was fresh and hot! Looks like this will be what I’ll order next time when I’m at Asian Station.

171

It was goooood… Now that I’m typing up this post – I’m craving for it already! Yikes!!!
