[Markham] Fung Lam Court Chinese Restaurant – dinner review

I’m not really a fan of eating Chinese food in restaurants because I enjoy homemade Chinese food a lot more. But than having dinners with family – I don’t really have a say to where to go. This is my first time at Fung Lam Court Chinese Restaurant. To my surprise – the food is pretty good here. A bit on the pricier side but it’s decent food.

We went on a weekday – so the restaurant wasn’t busy at all – maximum of 10 tables that night. The servers were attentive and they kept changing our plates to a new one. It was like a 8 dish meal we ordered. Quite a lot of food for seven people eh? We always over-order and end up packing 1/4 of the food home.

Two lobster & a fresh fish

My favorite part is the dessert part! You don’t see this a lot in Chinese restaurant! We get to pick from a couple of desserts they have! Usually restaurants have either red bean soup or green bean soup! Look at what they offer here! Sesame, Pecan, and Peanut Paste! It was delicious! My favorite part of dinner! Dinner with tax and tips cost $180.00. A bit on the pricier side but it’s worth it. I do want to come back and try their dim sum.

[Scarborough] Asian Legend at Sheppred & Brimley Ave ;; Restaurant & Food Review

Asian Legend has been around for a good 4-5 years now. I’m really surprised this restaurant lasted for this long – not because their food isn’t good but if you live in Scarborough/Markham area – restaurants don’t last that long. They change names a lot. So that was why I was surprised because it’s been a good 4-5 years!

The food in this restaurant is pretty good – more on the spicier side. Well at least that was what we had that night. 3/5 of the dishes were quite spicy. I guess for those that love spice – this is definitely a restaurant you should go!

This is the Stir Fry Eggplant – pretty good!! I love the sauce and it’s very tasty.

Forgot what this is called but it was a little blend to me. Not as tasty as the eggplants!

Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice

Not sure what this is called either. But darn – it was SPICY!

Kung Po Chicken! One of my favorite dish that night!

Fried Shanghai Noodles

Overall – dinner wasn’t so bad. A bit on the spicy side but I could handle it. About $13 per person for 6 plates of food + 3 bowl of rice for 6 people. We were pretty full too.

[Markham] Milestones at Highway7 & Warden Avenue ;; Restaurant & Food Review

Celebrated our son’s first birthday at Milestones. I thought it be meaningful to celebrate his first milestone at Milestones. Get it? Hahaha – I like meaningful things. I didn’t know they had a Prix Fixe menu when we got there – even more better. It was a 3 course meal at $25.00 each. These are not the appetizer that came with the meal. What happened was – they didn’t have the soup starter we wanted and we waited about half an hour for it. So they decided to give us complimentary appetizers. We get to pick 5 appetizers on their regular menu,

Bruschetta

Sweet Potato Fries

Garlic Bread

Main Course: Chicken – not quite sure the full name of this meal

Main Course: Grilled Salmon

Main Course: Steak with baked potato

I do not recommend their steaks here – it sucks and it’s rough! it’s my second time trying their steaks and there is no next time! I order medium and it shouldn’t even be a problem chewing it. But nope – my jaw was tired after the second piece of steak. I had to take it home and make noodles with it instead. How disappointing right?

Dessert: Cookie & Cream

Dessert: Peacan Belgium Dark Chocolate Cake

We even had a complimentary dessert for munchkin’s first birthday. It was nice of the restaurant. We had a waitress that was fairly new and she made a lot of mistakes for our orders and such. Good thing I was in a good mood – otherwise I would of been really mad and requested to change servers. I didn’t want it to ruin our mood too especially dining with the in-laws. Hopefully she’ll learn from all the mistakes that night. Overall – had a delicious dinner. Dinner lasted about 2.5 hours long.

[Markham] Sushi On 7 — Food Pictures

I’ve blogged about this restaurant many times on this blog already – no need for me to save more. Here’s the pictures since I last visited this restaurant. They added a couple new things on their menu!

I had a super full dinner that night! It was delicious and I enjoyed their new dessert too!

[Markham] Nak Won at Peach Tree Plaza ;; Excellent Service & Food

Nak Won is one of my favorite Korean Restaurants! They have a location at First Markham Place & Peach Tree Plaza. Although they are the same chain but the service and food sure isn’t the same. I prefer the Peach Tree Plaza restaurant! I love the friendly service and the delicious food here. What I look forward to every meal at this restaurant is their appetizers! Yep – look at the variety of appetizers they have! The potato, rice noodle, and fish cakes is my all time favorite!

My all time favorite – pork bone soup! I cannot not order this when I’m in a Korean restaurant! I have to have this every time – other than the tofu soup.

This looks delicious! I do want to try this out!

This is what my friend had – not sure what this is called? I think it’s the Chicken soup ?

This is what my husband had – he has it every time too!

Of course a picture after dinner – look at my humble family!

Group picture! This dinner was to celebrate two friends birthday. Don’t this picture look too perfect? It was an awesome dinner – not too busy that day when we dine there. We had a good two hours dinner with no distribution.

[Markham] Sushi on 7 — Food Varieties

Need me not to say much about Sushi on 7 because I’ve blogged about this restaurant many many times already. I love this restaurant a lot because of their fresh food and fast service. [Scarborough] Gourmet Malaysia HALAL Family Restaurant — Food & Restaurant Review

This is my first time at Gourmet Malaysia HALAL family Restaurant. They have a wide variety of dishes. From Malaysian food to Singaporean food to Thai food to many different Asian food. Pretty neat with so many different kinds of cuisines in one restaurant right?

This is the large menu variety in this restaurant. I had trouble of picking what I really wanted to eat. Kept going back and forth on it. Most of the food is Malaysian food – which I never really had Malaysian food before and didn’t really want to try something that I wouldn’t like. It was quite tough.

My girlfriend ordered a Chicken Corn Soup  – when it came – the appearance was like that. Wish it was much more neat than having it all poured over the place.

I believe this is the Sweet and Sour soup – look at the presentation! Very poor presentation.

This is the appetizer my friend ordered – no idea what’s it called.

Another appetizer my friend ordered – called the Roti? Not quite sure – I didn’t try it.

This is like a meal for one of my girlfriends. Looks nice right?

This is my meal – I thought ordering Pad Thai wouldn’t go wrong since I always have Pad Thai at other restaurants. But apparently they make it differently.

Noodles with veggies.

Chicken with Rice.

Overall – to me the restaurant was “so so” – service was “so so” as well. Wish the presentation of food wasn’t poorly presented. I would give it another try to see how the other dishes is like because being there once really don’t do any justice till you try it out one more time.

[Scarborough] New Northern Dumpling House — Variety of Food & Restaurant Review

Another Chinese New Year feast we had during Chinese New Year. We headed to a dumpling house at Silverstar blvd and Steeles Avenue. Been here for a couple times and I gotta say – I love this time. Although this place isn’t all modern up or anything but the food is decent and at a very very very affordable price. It’s like Shanghai food to me. Ever since the first time Hubby and I ate here – it’s become out all time favorite place to go to for Shanghai food.

This is a beef dish – very delicious sauce – a bit on the salty side. It was my first time trying this out!

The regular fried tofu – another tasty dish. Love the sauce.

This is the fried dumpling or as the Chinese calls it “Wor Teep”. Love this dish.

The plain steamed buns – usually I don’t go for these because I find them too blend.

Shanghai friend noodles. “Shanghai Cho Chow” – pretty yummy too!

Gotta love steamed dumplings! I love how they make it on the spot. I mean – handmade these on the spot!!! These are not bought from store – they actually make them when you order them. How neat is that right? A tray like this is $4.99 for 12 pieces. It is my all time favorite – I can have this EVERY DAY if I could. One of these trays will fill me up for sure!

This is the dessert called “Dou Sa Wor Ban” – my favorite but I find the crust a bit on the thick side.

Here’s the red pockets “Lai See” we collected on Chinese New Year. Well – it was us three all combined.

Look at our little munchkin playing with all the red envelopes! It’s his first Chinese New Year!
