[Markham] La Piazzetta Ristorante Bar & Grill at Monte Carlo Inns – Woodbine Ave & 16th Ave

Address: 8900 Woodbine Ave, Markham, ON L3R 5K6
Phone:(905) 513-8100
Rating: 4.5 star / 5 star

We headed to  La Piazzetta Ristorante Bar & Grill at Monte Carlo Inn for a celebration dinner. It was my Mother-in-law’s birthday and she chose to go here. I’ve been here once and this was my second time stepping inside this restaurant. It’s a Western restaurant but operated by Chinese people. It was quite a quiet place to be on a weekday – only a couple tables were occupied. What I love about their menu is – they have set course dinners at a fix price.

We all ordered a four course meal – it came with either salad or soup, main course, dessert, and a drink. They have different price range depending on what your main course is. The picture above is a lobster bisque soup that my husband ordered.

There was this oyster deal for $9.99 for half a dozen of fresh oysters.

Baked Escargots

Grilled Chicken on Mashed Potato

Steak & Shrimp dinner

Forgot what this dessert was called.

Overall – a really satisfying dinner. We were all very full and happy. What better to have in a birthday celebration right? Of course – delicious food does the job! Next time I would like to try their steaks! Have you been here before? What’s your experience? This location is the Woodbine & 16th Avenue location – inside Monte Carlo Inn. The service was excellent – staff were attentive! A place we must come back to :) !

[Scarborough] Yogi Noodles — Inexpensive & Delicious Food

Yogi Noodle is one of my all-time-favorite. I love their food and not only is their food good – they are pretty inexpensive. This spaghetti bolognese cost $5.99 and it came with a drink too. It’s not only lunch – it’s all day long. Yogi Noodles has two locations. Scarborough location: Warden Avenue & Steeles Avenue. Richmond Hill location: Easter Beaver Creek & Highway 7.

This is what my husband ordered. His all time favorite at this restaurant – Baked Cream Sauce with Ham & Chicken Spaghetti. For $6.99 it came with a drink also.

This is what my brother-in-law ordered. Not sure about the price but it was a big bowl of noodles with lots of dumplings and veggie. Looks like a really yummy and healthy meal for sure. I highly recommend this restaurant. Not because it’s inexpensive but the food is very very tasty!

[Dufferin Mall] Swiss Chalet ;; Restaurant Review & Kids Meals

Had a yummilicious lunch with my best friend and her family at Swiss Chalet. This time at the Dufferin Mall location. Swiss Chalet never disappoints me with their food. Everything was yummy and even the kids were satisfied with their meal. When I looked at the kids menu for the first time – I didn’t know they served that many choices. Now I can’t wait till my son knows how to eat – so we will be dining at Swiss Chalet more often.

This is my usual – was feeling for the quarter chicken and baked potato. I wanted the fries also but it was hard to decide so I stick with the healthier choice. Well – I’m not sure if it’s healthy with the sour cream or not but at least I felt a little healthy. lol.

This is one of the kids meal ordered that afternoon. Pretty good – I wanted to try one piece of the chicken strips but resisted. Have you been to Swiss Chalet? Any comments about their restaurant chain? Love it or hate it?

[Markham] Golden Phoenix — Food & Restaurant Review

I’ve been to Golden Phoenix no more than five times. This restaurant has been open for a while now – quite on the popular side I must say. I’m not really a fan of their food or prices. It’s a bit on the pricier side and to me – the food tastes average. They do have quite a bit of specialty dishes here.

Baked Cheese Tomato w/ Pork Chop Rce          &&               Baked Portuguese Chicken Rice

I ordered their famous Pork Chop bun. It was fairly fresh – if I remember correctly – it was around $5.00 without a drink. The first time I had it – it wasn’t anything special to me. I prefer the Pork Chop Bun from New City Restaurant. But after trying it out again – it’s really not that bad. The pork chop was really fresh! Would be great if it came with fries too. Overall – a fairly pricey restaurant but I guess what attracts people to this restaurant is that they do have some specialty dishes. After such a big lunch – we headed to check out a leather wallet for my brother. :)

[Scarborough] Asian Legend at Sheppred & Brimley Ave ;; Restaurant & Food Review

Asian Legend has been around for a good 4-5 years now. I’m really surprised this restaurant lasted for this long – not because their food isn’t good but if you live in Scarborough/Markham area – restaurants don’t last that long. They change names a lot. So that was why I was surprised because it’s been a good 4-5 years!

The food in this restaurant is pretty good – more on the spicier side. Well at least that was what we had that night. 3/5 of the dishes were quite spicy. I guess for those that love spice – this is definitely a restaurant you should go!

This is the Stir Fry Eggplant – pretty good!! I love the sauce and it’s very tasty.

Forgot what this is called but it was a little blend to me. Not as tasty as the eggplants!

Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice

Not sure what this is called either. But darn – it was SPICY!

Kung Po Chicken! One of my favorite dish that night!

Fried Shanghai Noodles

Overall – dinner wasn’t so bad. A bit on the spicy side but I could handle it. About $13 per person for 6 plates of food + 3 bowl of rice for 6 people. We were pretty full too.

[North York] Moxie at Yorkdale Mall ;; Food & Restaurant Reviews

Had a delicious dinner with my girlfriend at Moxie Yorkdale location. It was on a Sunday and we didn’t have to wait for long. We quickly ordered our meals too. It was such a busy Sunday. I’ve been here many times and the servers never fails to disappoint me here.

Since I had steak here many times – I decided to try their pasta. I think it was the Alfredo Chicken Penne – don’t quite remember. It was really delicious and tasty. Love the combination of the green onions as well. The green onions was what gave a better taste for the pasta. Felt like a Chinese dish – because I never really see green onions in Western food before.

I said no thank you to desserts that night but my girlfriend had the White Chocolate cake. She said it was delicious. I refused to have any because I cannot imagine how much calories is in this piece of cake. Overall – we enjoyed our dinner. The kids were well behaved and we got to catch up with each other. I need more of these girl times!

Chinese Traditional Homemade Dinner

Well well well – I wouldn’t call this “traditional” but it’s still a Chinese food dinner. I’ve been to China and had their “traditional” dinner and it’s very different from the food my step-mom makes. I’m just not too used to the actual traditional food. Though I do still call this the “traditional” Chinese dinner because I’ve had this most of my life and these are the Chinese food that comforts my tummy. Ever since moving out and into my husband’s home – I haven’t had this for quite awhile. Since my step-mom is hardly back in Canada – I had to request her to cook whenever she is back. We headed to her place for dinner after we pick up a cheap yamaha dgx 640 at the music shop. It was indeed a very satisfying dinner. It may look simple but I love it!

Dishcrawl Scarborough – Review & First Experience

How should I start this post off as? Let me start it off with one word – “AMAZING”! It was my very first time experiencing a Dishcrawl Event. Before coming to this event – I had no idea how it would go. Of course – I was very curious of what restaurants we’ll be going to that night but again – I had a lot of questions in my mind. Would there be enough food to fill up my tummy? Would the food be awesome? How many people would be attending this event?

Dishcrawl Ambassador, Jennifer! You gotta meet her – she has a very charming personality!

My first Dishcrawl event was FABULOUS. My husband and I had a blast that night – especially at the end of the night – the dessert was what did it! Till this date – I’m still thinking about that funnel cake we had that night! Jennifer did an awesome job selecting the four restaurants! I will definitely be going to more Dishcrawl events in the future – you really can’t miss it! That means – I’ll need to lose off the extra pounds in order to join these Dishcrawl events. There was more than enough food for my stomach – the choices of restaurants were amazing! I love how the owner introduced themselves and gave a little history about their restaurants – I’ve learned quite a lot that night!

Let me talk a little more about the Scarborough Dishcrawl event that happened on March 27th 2013 (Wednesday). We met up at Pho Metro (a Vietnamese restaurant) – I didn’t know that was our first destination at all but when we got there – we figured it was. We got our names checked off and by 7:15pm – Jennifer gave us an introduction of the event. Then all we did was eat for the rest of the night! We stayed in each restaurant about 40 minutes.

Our number 1 stop was at Pho Metro.
