[Markham] Fung Lam Court Chinese Restaurant – dinner review

I’m not really a fan of eating Chinese food in restaurants because I enjoy homemade Chinese food a lot more. But than having dinners with family – I don’t really have a say to where to go. This is my first time at Fung Lam Court Chinese Restaurant. To my surprise – the food is pretty good here. A bit on the pricier side but it’s decent food.

We went on a weekday – so the restaurant wasn’t busy at all – maximum of 10 tables that night. The servers were attentive and they kept changing our plates to a new one. It was like a 8 dish meal we ordered. Quite a lot of food for seven people eh? We always over-order and end up packing 1/4 of the food home.

Two lobster & a fresh fish

My favorite part is the dessert part! You don’t see this a lot in Chinese restaurant! We get to pick from a couple of desserts they have! Usually restaurants have either red bean soup or green bean soup! Look at what they offer here! Sesame, Pecan, and Peanut Paste! It was delicious! My favorite part of dinner! Dinner with tax and tips cost $180.00. A bit on the pricier side but it’s worth it. I do want to come back and try their dim sum.

[Markham] Royal Teahouse 君皇茶坊 – Dinner Review

Been here many times before and food here is average to me. All Chinese food is average to me – might be because I grew up having them all the time.

We ordered way too much food for four people. We had ‘the seafood’ – does anyone know what it is called? Sweet Sour Pork, Fresh Fish, Veg, Peking Duck, and the left over of Peking Duck with lettuce. Total of six dishes for four!

My favorite was the peking duck – it was fresh and a lot of meat. I don’t have them often – so I do kind of miss it. What’s your favorite at this restaurant? Any recommendations? Care to Share?

[Coupons] McDonald – 2 Can Dine $9.98

When I’m lazy and don’t feel like making dinner or even going out for a meal. McDonald would be something I would have. Hubby and I both had the Mc Chicken Combo – we used the 2 can dine coupon that we printed off on their website for $9.98. A couple buck savings is not bad eh? A McDonald combo can be quite pricey. From what I remember – Big Mac Combo is almost reaching to $8.00! Why must unhealthy food be that pricey? I’m sure it’s a lot cheaper in the States!

Day Out with My Loves

Hubby finally had a day off last Friday and we went out to check out those exciting studio headphones at the music shop. I’ve been wanting one for a long time and I think I will be getting them for our second wedding anniversary. With a blink of an eye – our second wedding anniversary is on the way. Time flies and our love continues to grow. I cannot ask for a better husband!

Passion For Food

I always love making food at home – like daily meals and party food. But never really got that much of a chance to do so since I still live with the in-laws and my mother-in-law does all the dinner cooking. Now that I stay home more with my son – I try to do most of my lunch cooking. I love cooking and I enjoy placing my food nicely. I can’t say I’m the best at it because I didn’t really take any culinary school but it’s on the edible side.

If I have a chance to go for culinary – I would go to culinary Schools in Virginia. My friend told me all about it and how much she learned from her program. There’s many culinary schools in Virginia and these schools will actually open up a career for their students. Right when my friend graduated – she got a job as a chef at a restaurant immediately because of the well-known school she gone to. She tells me how happy she is to be a chef and be in the kitchen all the time. Having her customers eating the food she makes gives her a smile. It’s just a very rewarding feeling for her and I am so happy for her to see her where she is in life. Nothing is as important as loving the career you’re in. You get to live life once – live it doing the things you love and enjoy the most right? I’ll think about culinary school when my son is a little older. I want to take culinary school as a hobby where I can cook at home for my family and friends. There’s just too much on my plate right now to start culinary – I’m sure in a couple of years – I’ll be a chef at home for my own family! Just remember – life is amazing! Enjoy it to the fullest!

[Markham] Oban Sushi at Bur Oak – Food Review

I’ve been trying out a couple of new restaurants and Oban Sushi is one of them. This restaurant is located on 16th Avenue and Kennedy where the Bur Oak plaza is. Instead of All You Can Eat for lunch – we ordered their bento boxes. They do have a special lunch menu – ranges from $4.99 to $23.99. Click on picture to enlarge the photo for better view.

Their special menu comes with a salad, soup, and a drink.

I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki beno box for $4.99 while my hubby had the Sushi & Sashimi Platter for $8.99.

Overall – everything was good with my bento box except the rice was a bit on the hard side. I can’t really judge this restaurant yet because it’s only my first time here. I’ll give it another try next time to see if the rice will be still as hard. Sushi rolls were delicious. Have you been here before? Any recommendations?

Customizing my Business

I’ve been quite busy juggling everything on my plate. From taking care of my son to getting housework done to online business to online blogging work to spending time with family and friends. It’s been a whole lot! Quite a bit and I’m glad I’m slowly getting used to this kind of schedule for myself. Just last week I got  printing business cards done. I know it’s not necessary but makes it look more professional this way. I like to be unique!

[Markham] Pho Pad Thai – Woodbine Ave & 16th Ave Location

This was my first visit at Pho Pad Thai – I love restaurants like this where there’s different cuisines. This restaurant is a pretty big restaurant and lots of tables. We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and it was nearly packed. A large selection of dishes to pick from also.

I ordered a small Specialty Pho – gotta say their soup base was pretty tasty and on the good side. I’m super picky when it comes down to Pho – the soup base must be good otherwise it ruins the bowl of Pho. Not a disappointment at all!

We ordered a dish of Skewers to share between five people. By the time I finished my bowl of Pho – I was over-full already and didn’t get to try these. It smelt really yummy though – this is a must re-order next time! A better review next time on this dish! Service was decent and so is the presentation of food!

Highly recommend this restaurant!
